About Square Peg Round Whole

An update from the Square Peg Round Whole team

Louise Kuchel, the founder of Square Peg Round Whole, passed away in 2023 after a brave battle with Exon20, a rare genetic non-smoking lung cancer. She passed peacefully with her husband Ash by her side. Our thoughts and deepest condolences remain with her husband, children, family, and friends.

We know this update has been a long time coming. It has been difficult to put into words just how much Lou meant to all of us and how deeply her absence is felt. Lou was more than the founder of SPRW—she was its heart, its soul, and its driving force.  Before her passing, Lou entrusted Square Peg Round Whole to our leadership and admin team. We feel the weight of her trust and are committed to continuing the incredible work she began. Lou cherished this community—what started as a podcast has grown into a thriving, impactful advocacy collective at both state and national levels.  Lou’s vision for inclusive education and neuroaffirming models of care remains at the centre of everything we do. Her legacy lives on in the work we continue and in the passion she inspired in so many.

Continuing Lou's Legacy...

Square Peg Round Whole remains a fully neurodivergent-led advocacy collective, upholding Lou’s unwavering commitment to centring neurodivergent voices in the fight for neuroaffirming education systems.  In early 2024, a not-for-profit organization was established in Western Australia to honour Lou’s incredible legacy and to continue her advocacy work. While currently based in WA, we hope to eventually expand nationally, enabling us to work in all states and territories. This step will help us further Lou’s vision of a united, inclusive advocacy movement for neurodivergent students across Australia.  Ways to honour Lou’s memory and support the advocacy movement she began:
